Revolutionizing Agriculture: The Durability and Efficiency of Shield's Strip Till Points

Agriculture is the backbone of our food system, and at Shield, we understand the importance of innovation in after-market agricultural parts. Our patented Shield Strip Till System is a testament to our commitment to this cause. Recently, an extensive long-term wear study of our ST-PO point was conducted, revealing remarkable findings that underscore sustainability and efficiency in modern farming.

Study Overview:
The study involved a direct comparison between a new ST-PO point from our latest foundry batch and a worn counterpart that served an impressive 130 acres per point on a 24-row machine. Remarkably, the used point exhibited a mere 30% weight reduction after extensive use, a stark contrast to the typical 13% that signifies wear-out in traditional welded knives. This demonstrates the exceptional durability and life span of our replaceable point system, allowing shanks to remain on the machine for multiple point sets, translating into substantial cost savings and reduced downtime for farmers.

Field Performance:
The worn point, weighing 2.95 lbs compared to a new one at 4.2 lbs, managed to till 3120 acres, with usage split between sandylands and rich black dirt. The performance in different soil types was outstanding, with the farmer estimating an impressive 200-225 acres per point potential in black dirt. Even towards the end of its lifecycle, the point continued to create optimal berms, an essential feature for effective soil management and crop yield.

Advanced Machine Integration:
Utilized by a powerful 684 hp Quad Trac in Rice County, Kansas, our strip till point proved its mettle. The farmer reported speeds of 5.2 mph in black dirt and 6.7-6.8 mph in sandy soil, both at a depth of about 12 inches. The adaptability to varying soil conditions without compromising on the depth or speed of operation marks a significant advancement in tillage technology.

Nutrient Delivery Efficiency:
Not only does our system excel in tillage, but it also facilitates precise nutrient delivery. The standard single tube knife shank, as pictured, is part of our system that the farmer uses in dual tubes for anhydrous ammonia (NH3) and liquid application. With 70 units of NH3 on dryland and 200 units on irrigated land, alongside a 10-gallon 10-34-0 program or a 10 gallon potassium thiosulfate (KTS) program, our points ensure the right nutrients reach the soil efficiently.

Continuous Improvement:
Shield is dedicated to ongoing research and development. Our studies inform design and functionality improvements, ensuring that our products meet the evolving needs of the agricultural community. We listen to the farmers who use our products daily, using their feedback to innovate and refine.

In conclusion, the Shield Strip Till System's replaceable points exemplify our pursuit of excellence. As we continue to learn and evolve, we reaffirm our commitment to the agricultural industry, providing farmers with sustainable, efficient, and robust tools for success.
