Skilled Machinist

Purpose: 

A skilled machinist is responsible for operating machining tools to produce precision metal and plastic parts that meet precise specifications, by setting up and operating of a variety of standard Bridgeport-type and engine lathe equipment.    This person will also be able to run CNC equipment with proper training.     

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Setup and operate a Bridgeport-type vertical mill, engine lathe, mill/drill and other manual support equipment 

  • Learn to run a CNC lathe, CNC mills and automatic screw machines 

  • Know how to use hand tools, power tools and parts measuring equipment 

  • Oversee part-time help to operate other machine shop equipment 

  • Be willing to learn new tasks 

Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or GED with emphasis on machine shop skills, or military training in the skills of machine shop workers 

  • Demonstrate basic math, print reading and communication skills 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of hand and power tools and parts measuring equipment 

  • Your own small personal set of calipers and other measuring devices common to a machine shop 

    Drivers license
